Dear Marty,
We heard about your formation of the Albuquerque Prescription Trails Pilot Program. We salute Joanne McEntire in developing a Walking Trails Guide which brings together great information and maps on walking routes along trails and in our city's parks.

We appreciate that the Guide and its maps are available at Albuquerque's website at: http://www.cabq.gov/parks/prescription-trails. Providing those who work in health care in our city with a prescription pad for walking and the development of the Walking Trails Guide adds promise for educating citizens on the advantages of getting up and moving out of the house in a positive health direction.

As if it weren't enough to get all of this going through the co-operation of lots of departments and individuals, we can add additional thanks to a man named Stephen Ausherman who has authored 60 Hikes Within 60 Miles. For those who learn to love walking, there will be those who carry it a step further by enlisitng Ausherman's expert guidance in finding trails and utilizing them in the safest, most enjoyable ways.

Those who use the book will find such treats as the Rio Grande Nature Center, Kayser Mill-Pine Shadow-Cottonwood Trails, Ball Ranch, Arroyo Seco, Golden Open Space, Tent Rocks, and Montessa Park.

Ausherman updates his website, http://www.restlesstribes.com, frequently, and he occasionally acts as a guide for events for the Albuquerque and Outdoor Meetup. This group combines excercise with social activities. Anyone interested in further information about it may visit Meetups's website at http://www.hiking.meetup.com/204/.
