Call for Entries: The Art of the Word

Art work celebrating calligraphy throughout the world will be accepted May 2, 2007 at the Arts Alliance Gallery, 1100 San Mateo NE for a juried exhibit.
New Mexico calligraphers are invited by Escribiente, Albuquerque's Calligraphic Society, to enter up to three entries each for this show which will run from May 4, 2007 through May 28, 2007 at the Courtyard Shopping Center in Albuquerque.

Who may enter this juried show?
Residents of NM who prepare original work based on letter forms using any language (accompanied by English translation) in any of the world's many calligraphic styles, and in any medium: framed, sculptural, or book.
What are the restrictions?
Limited editions of original prints such as lithographs or etchings are acceptable, while reproductions are not.
No work can can exceed 3 feet by 4 feet in size and must not weigh more than one person can lift easily.
Entries must be professional in appearance.
Framed works for wall hanging must have wire attached to the back.
Each work must have a tag securely attached which states the name of the calligrapher, the title, the medium, a contact phone number, and the price of the work if it is for sale or the value of the work if it is not for sale.
What is the cost?
$10. for one; $15 for two or three
Who handles insurance and sales?
Work is insured by Arts Alliance.
The Arts Alliance will handle sales and take a 15% commission.
When must I submit work for the jury process?
Entries must be submitted May 2, 2007 from 10 am to 3 pm at the Art Alliance Gallery, 1100 San Mateo NE, Suite 10 in Albuquerque, NM 87110.
What happens if my work is not accepted for the show?
These entries must be picked up on May 3, 2007 from noon to 3 pm.
Will there be an Artists' Reception?
There will be a Reception on May 4, 2007 from 5 pm to 8 pm during First Friday Arts Crawl.
Prizes for Excellence will be awarded.
When will entries be returned?
Entries may be picked up on May 29, 2007 from 10 am until 12 noon.

They are Lauri Dickinsen, Pat Marsello, and Al Padilla.
