Albuquerque Proposes a Streetcar For Your Desires
7 February 2007

Albuquerque wants you to ride streetcars downtown as you shop, go to a restaurant or bar, or visit the new arena. It will provide a direct route on Central Avenue between Atrisco Plaza on the west side and Central/Washington, east of Nob Hill. The route will connect Old Town, Downtown, EDo and UNM. You may find out more about the City's plans for you.

Talks are going on between Mayor Martin Chavez and Governor Bill Richardson concerning the expenditure of $120 million to have the streetcar go from the airport to the University of New Mexico at Central Avenue. This could promote tourism to our fair city by providing easy transportation to major tourist sites such as Old Town, the Bio Park, Zoo, the future Wheels Museum, and the National Hispanic Cultural Center.
